Act of Life is 'a network resource center for adoption' and as such we work very closely with various maternity homes, adoption agencies, churches, and other pro-life organizations in an effort to offer the most current and accurate information available. We are an impartial intermediary for birth mothers/birth parents wanting to explore adoption as a parenting choice for their unborn child, and anyone else considering adoption - childless couples, 'empty nesters', couples wanting to extend their current family.
It is our experience that there are people who are interested in adoption and want to know more about it, however are apprehensive about going directly to an adoption agency as they don't know what to expect when they get there. We offer our clients an insight into the process of adoption, the types of adoption available to them, and the agencies who handle the various types of adoption; i.e. infant; domestic; international. No organization or agency is given preference over another - all information is given impartially - with our focus being entirely on the needs of the client.
We also offer confidential post-adoption counseling for any birth mother/birth parent who wants/needs to talk about their adoption experience. Placing a child for adoption is a very courageous, loving and selfless act however it can leave the birth mother/birth parents, grandparents and other family members feeling a sense of loss. Act of Life is a place where they can come and be listened to with compassion and understanding.
